Guérin Publishing House has it’s own distinct atmosphere and visual identity. Michel Guérin founded the publishers in 1995 with a sole focus on mountaineering books. Having previously worked in advertising, he and his wife set out to design beautiful red bound books: “red like the socks and jumpers worn by climbers when I was a boy”.
Far from the Paris literati, the publishing house has been entrusted with texts by celebrated authors such as Sylvain Tesson, Jean-Christophe Rufin and Yann Queffeléc. Guérin now has its own bookshop in the heart of Chamonix where you can browse the great works of Alpine literature from Conquistadors of the Useless (Lionel Terray) to Premier de Cordée (Frison-Roche) and The Mountains of My Life (Walter Bonatti).
