Spring Skiing - Les Aiguilles Rouges

As ski lifts gradually shut down for the summer, another ski season begins: There is still snow to be found. Scaling the mountain now involves attaching climbing skins to skis, riding off the beaten track through soft spring snow. A happy few might catch powder on North-facing slopes; South-side the snow is still enjoyably smooth. Perfect conditions for an introduction to ski touring if you're willing to do without lifts and groomed pistes. Do so and the run down will take on a whole new feeling.
